This page explains what Ickmeter stores in your browser and why.

Strictly necessary (always on)

ickmeter.voter — random anonymous ID so we can prevent trivial duplicate voting.
ickmeter.voted / ickmeter.voted.stories — remembers what you've already voted on.
ickmeter.consent — remembers your cookie preferences so we don't ask again.
Auth session cookies — only if you sign in to the admin area.

These are stored in your browser's localStorage, not sent to third parties. They're required for the site to work.

Advertising

Google AdSense — sets cookies to serve ads, measure performance, and (where you've consented) personalise ads. Google is the controller of that data. Manage your ad preferences at adssettings.google.com.

Analytics

We don't currently run a separate analytics product beyond what our ad and hosting providers use. If that changes we'll update this policy.

How to control cookies

You can clear all Ickmeter local storage from your browser's site settings, block third-party cookies at the browser level, or use ad-blockers to prevent ad cookies from loading. Doing so may affect ad-supported features but the core site will still work.
